Following BINI’s historic Coachella debut, Star Magic and ABS-CBN TV Production head Lauren Dyogi shared the story behind the group’s invitation to Japan’s biggest music festival, Summer Sonic.
In a recent TikTok, Direk Lauren shared that BINI’s team and management were keeping secret the news about the next festival the group would be joining until it was officially announced.
“Isa sa magandang balita na sumalubong sa amin habang kami ay nasa himpapawid ay yung lumabas yung balita sa Summer Sonic na we are gatekeeping na kami ay invited. Actually lumabas iyon, I don’t exactly remember the date, but it’s either the first or second week of Coachella,” he said.

He further shared that they already received the news before the announcement of the group’s upcoming world tour, which will kick off this June.
“We received the offer from our agent na sinasabi ngang we were invited to do Summer Sonic so buti na lang na when we receive that, we have time pa to make adjustments with our world tour kasi swak siya sa schedule namin,” Direk Lauren added.
Direk Lauren admitted that it will be a tricky schedule for the group, which has been very busy with both local and international events and commitments.
“Medyo tricky yung pag-adjust para makatawid from the US papunta sa Japan then back to the US,” he said.
Despite the challenge, Direk Lauren said the opportunity was too important to pass up, especially since it would give the chance to introduce and expand the group and OPM to different countries around the globe.
“I know it will be challenging to dahil sa time zone, yung jet lag ng girls, but it’s an offer that we could not resist, we could not pass up kasi two cities iyon – Osaka and Tokyo. It’s also a market that we know na it’s very difficult to penetrate and to be invited sa Summer Sonic, wow,” he expressed.
Direk Lauren also shared how the invitation seemed to fulfill a manifestation made by BINI leader Jhoanna Robles, who previously tweeted about wanting the group to perform at international stages such as Coachella and Summer Sonic.
“Manifested by Jho. I think she showed me nung September 2025 when she had a tweet na sinabi niya na Summer Sonic 2024 or 2025, ayon nga namanifest niya,” Direk Lauren proudly said. “Two days of Summer Sonic is something na hindi talaga pwedeng hindi tanggapin.”
He added that the next two months will be especially demanding for the group as they prepare for both the international festival and their upcoming world tour.
“Itong darating na dalawang buwan, medyo madugo ito for the girls. We have a lot of preparations to do for Summer Sonic, for the world tour, and we’ll see everybody sa May 10 for ASAP experience that would be their first big public appearance (after Coachella) in the Philippines,” he stated.
Marking its 25th anniversary this year, Japan’s popular music festival, Summer Sonic, brings together local and international acts in a series of concerts and performances in Osaka and Tokyo this August.
Aside from BINI, P-pop Kings SB19 is also part of the festival on August 15 in Tokyo with mgk, American singer-songwriter and YouTuber Alex Warren, Japanese boy band BE:FIRST, American singer-songwriter and guitarist Steve Lacy, English rock band Suede, among others.
