“From zero and beyond”—Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin are on a high because of the nominations and awards My Future You received at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival‘s “Gabi Ng Parangal.” The Regal Entertainment rom-com movie is an official entry to the 50th edition of MMFF, marking the debut film of the FranSeth love team.
My Future You took home four awards: 3rd Best Picture, Best Director (with Crisanto Aquino tying with The Kingdom‘s Michael Tuviera), Best Editing (Vanessa Ubas de Leon), and Breakthrough Performance (Seth Fedelin).
Aside from those awards, their nominations are also worth celebrating, especially with Francine and Seth getting nominated for the top acting awards at the 50th MMFF.
Seth was a Best Actor nominee alongside seasoned actors Dennis Trillo (Green Bones), Vice Ganda (And the Breadwinner Is…), Vic Sotto (The Kingdom), Piolo Pascual (The Kingdom), and Arjo Atayde (Topakk).
On the other hand, Francine was nominated for Best Actress, joining a lineup of stellar artists: Judy Ann Santos (Espantaho), Julia Montes (Topakk), Jane de Leon (Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital), and Vilma Santos (Uninvited).
My Future You was also nominated for the Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award for Excellence, Best Screenplay (Crisanto Aquino), Best Visual Effects (Santelmo Studio Inc.), Best Musical Score (Decky Jazer Margaja), and Best Float.
Reflecting on their movie’s nominations and awards, Francine took to Instagram to sum up her thoughts on the surreal experience and thank those who believed in and supported them. She posted a series of photos with Seth, including an art card of her partner’s award, and captioned it with: “Grateful for everything that happened this year. Tama nga, we must be patient kasi He will give it at the right time.”
In My Future You, Francine and Seth breathe life into the characters of two strangers who meet in a dating app. The twist, however, is that they live in different timelines set 15 years apart. In the trailer, the question that hints at the narrative is: “Will changing the past give you the future you want?”
The movie—which is one of the last films greenlit by Lily Monteverde before the Regal matriarch’s death last August—also stars Almira Muhlach, Christian Vasquez, Peewee O’hara, Bodjie Pascua, Marcus Madrigal, Vance Larena, Mosang, and Izzy Canillo.
